Sethi (sometimes spelled Seth) is a surname that is found among the Punjabi Khatris of India .

Anand, Bhasin Chadha, Kohli, Ghai, Sahni, Sethi, (Sawhney) and Suri. Most of Sethis are Dual-faith Hindus (who believe in both Hindu and Sikh religions). Some Sethis also follow Islam.[2] The surname is also found among Arora.[3] Historian Kamal Shankar Srivastava writes that all Khukrains including Sethis were originally found near the banks of Indus and Jhelum river especially in the towns of Pind Dadan Khan, Peshawar and Nowshera.[4][page needed

Sethi is derived from the Sanskrit word "Sreshta" meaning "Pure" or "Superior" . [5][6][page needed]
