  • 06:1206:12, 10 March 2021 diff hist −5 Ashcroft, British Columbia→‎Climate: The climate here is mild; the only dispute over the past few years regarding Ashcroft was whether or not it qualifies as full, true desert or is it only semi-arid. The desert claim could still be made, but I've left that alone, and agreed on a proper compromise. This recent change someone's further made goes against the reality of Ashcroft's temperature profile. It should be left as simply "dry, semi-arid." Thanks.

The mathematical analysis included the one factor that must be unequivocally met for desert classification; precipitation. Tag: Reverted

  • 02:5902:59, 9 December 2020 diff hist −382 Kamloops→‎Climate: A couple points. First, cold temperatures, and months, don't ever have "associated humidex," the concept here is preposterous. Secondly of lessor importance but still significant, as a "dry" climate, Kamloops during it's hottest recorded temperatures always has dewpoints too low to support a humidex reading that would be above the temperature itself. The U.S. uses the "heat index" which cuts "both ways" and is inherently greatly superior. Otherwise this is a superb article! Tag: Reverted

  • 03:2203:22, 4 December 2020 diff hist +185 Atacama DesertAlthough this comparison is a great debate within the opposing scientific camps; each paradigm makes excellent claims. It is however; an unequivocal tie when all is said and done. The reason it's equal, is because despite the total absence of surface moisture in McMurdo Valleys, there is soil life beneath. Maria Elena South is an absolute 'sterile' zone, as stated later in this article, in the "Mars comparison" section. If anything it would be the Atacama location that has the best claim. • 06:5506:55, 1 December 2020 diff hist −15 Okanagan DesertThe Nk'mip First Nations Community is not the sole claimant to the status of 'desert' for this region. This area by genuine scientific classification-- receives slightly less than 10 inches of precipitation annually; thus classifying it as true desert, even though it's at the very "wet and cool" end of the "desert range." The area west of Kamloops is also just barely desert, the Kamloops Wikipedia page -ironically- correctly cites this reality. Thanks. Tag: Reverted
  • 06:3806:38, 1 December 2020 diff hist −13 Okanagan Desert→‎Ecology: This very specific location receives slightly less than 10 inches of precipitation per year. Any region that receives less than 10 inches per year, is, technically classified as desert. It is also a temperate climate with an annual mean temperature of 10 Degrees Celsius. This places it outside of the "cold" classification. Tag: Reverted
  • 06:2506:25, 1 December 2020 diff hist 0 North American monsoonVery minor issue. The month of June is the driest month of the year, and is the "pre-monsoon" period.
  • 06:1906:19, 1 December 2020 diff hist −9 Atacama Desert→‎Aridity: With the recent discovery of Elena South, as stated later in the article, shows that this remote interior location is the driest place in the world, period, including the McMurdo Valleys in Antarctica, as microscopic soil life is now confirmed present in the McMurdo Valleys. In Elena South, it is an absolute sterile zone. Tag: Reverted
  • 06:1306:13, 1 December 2020 diff hist −641 Atacama Desert→‎Setting: Intended for Climate section: The Atacama Desert is located quite close to the equator; between 10 and 20 degrees South Latitude. Although "polar" fronts occasional reach this area from the Southwest, true "Antarctic source" fronts absolutely never come anywhere near this far North. In the extremely rare incidences of snowfall in this region, it occurs only above 3000 meters (10,000 ft) altitude upon mid-latitude storm (polar front) arrival. This is well above the hyperarid region. Tags: Reverted references removed

The two source regions (U.S. Desert and Canadian Arctic) are completely different temperature wise although they share very low moisture levels in common. Arctic weather has absolutely nothing to do with the hot, dry Santa Ana winds in California. Tags: Reverted references removed

I have to learn how to cite stuff; but I'll be back! Tags: Manual revert Reverted

The officer states that with TWO systems; both the older Koppen system, and the Penman-Monteith method, that this area is unique in Canada as the only truly arid location. Please check with Q.T.D. to confirm. Thankyou. Tag: references removed

  • 10:3710:37, 14 July 2020 diff hist +20 Ashcroft, British Columbia→‎Climate: The dry semi-arid designation is likely close to correct, although there are some remote valleys east of Ashcroft that are borderline desert climate areas. The Kamloops wiki page cites these valleys as being along the "Thompson River" but their actual proximity to Ashcroft is difficult to quantify so we'll leave the 'desert' Koppen classification off of the Ashcroft page-- For Now. Finally, in terms of year round temperatures, the area enjoys a mild climate overall. This I added.
