Media reports at the time did not mention any such controversy. However I agree the ref's actions deserve noting, but in an unbiased way. It's not true he counted to 10 though. Pay attention to his fingers. Donaire beat his count. It was a slow count yes, but slow counts aren't uncommon in boxing. I've added this info in a way more in line with an encyclopaedic style.
