Rebecca Goodgame Ebinger (born 1975) is an Iowa Judge and is a nominee to be a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.

Early life and education

Ebinger received a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service degree in 1997 from the

Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. She received a Juris Doctor in 2004 from Yale Law School
.

Career

She began her legal career with the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa, serving as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, from 2004 to 2006. From 2006 to 2008, she served as a law clerk to Judge Michael Joseph Melloy of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. From 2009 to 2011, she served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa. Since 2012, she has served as a State District Judge in Iowa's Judicial Election District 5C.[1][2]

On November 5, 2015 her nomination was reported out of committee by voice vote.[5] Her nomination is now pending before the full Senate.

She is a member of the Polk County Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association, Polk County Women Attorneys, the Iowa Judges Association, the National Association of Women Judges, the Iowa Organization of Women Attorneys, and the C. Edwin Moore American Inn of Court.[6]

Personal life

Ebinger is married with three children.[6]
