Sumner Township is a civil township of Gratiot County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,863 at the 2020 census.[3]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 35.9 square miles (93.1 km2), of which 35.9 square miles (93.0 km2) is land and 0.04 square mile (0.1 km2) (0.11%) is water.

The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 99.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.6 males.
