The alleged impartiality of Íslendinga saga

I have called the statement referring to Íslendinga saga's impartiality made on this entry into question. This is no longer a consensus in the academic community. It certainly was when the edited volume Sturlustefna was published in 1988; however, Úlfar Bragason's work on the narratology and literary dimensions of Sturlunga saga and subsequent research by numerous researchers (including the chapter authors in the 2017 edited volume Sturla Þórðarson: Skald, Chieftain, Lawman) have underscored the subjective and aesthetic dimensions of the compilation and its component texts. The assumption of "general" impartiality around Sturlunga saga is problematic as, historically, historians have cited the text relatively uncritically when mobilising it as a primary source.
