I'll pick this one up. Will post review as soon as possible. Kosack (talk) 07:35, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
Lead
- Link two-legs to Two-legged tie.
- "It was the annual the European Super Cup", the start of this sentence reads a little clunkily to me. Perhaps something along the lines of "The match was for the European Super Cup, an annual contest between..."?
- Volksparkstadion is repeat linked in the third paragraph.
- Link hat-trick.
- "and goal each from Kenny Dalglish and Fairclough" > and a goal each...?
Background
- You're starting from scratch with links after the lead, so add links for Liverpool and Hamburg at the first mentions.
- "Hamburg were also appearing in their first Super Cup match", source?
First leg summary
- "on the left hand of the pitch", something missing here?
Second leg summary
- Hamburg appear to have made quite a few changes to the lineup for the second leg, is there a story behind this and did it contribute to the subsequent heavy defeat?
- I've been unable to find anything on this, unfortunately. I've applied for access to the Newspaper.com archive so once I'm approved I can take a look but at the moment, I have nothing on this. I'm not certain there will be much info on it. The Super Cup wasn't as widely covered as it is now and judging by the title of some of the reports, not much loved either! - "fell to Phil Thompson who was shot went in via the post", sentence doesn't quite work.
- I may be mistaken, but I'm not seeing anything to support Johnson replacing Heighway in ref 9?
- "ten minutes after the start of the second-half they had scored a third", I would swap "they" with Liverpool here as the subject of the sentence is now the two players involved in the substitution.
- If Johnson replaced Heighway at half time, shouldn't the minutes be 45 rather than 46?
Post-match
- "Liverpool progressed to the final of the 1977–78 European Cup", this makes it sound like they progressed as a result of winning the Super Cup. I think this could be worded more clearly.
References
- Refs are all complete and well formatted, no issues there.
This is what I picked out on an initial run through. Placed on hold while these points are addressed. Kosack (talk) 09:12, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
