IIHF World Championship

Please don't make this article a re-direct to

2013 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships, as this article (like the other IIHF World Championship articles) deals only with the championship round of the entire tournament. GoodDay (talk) 16:05, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply
]

The source stating that the new Tele2 Arena (at that time Stockholmsarenan) will host one game of the 2013 Championship seems outdated, as it dates back in September 2010. Either the information is outdated, or the claim in the Arena's article that the construction is scheduled to be finished in July 2013 is not correct. What should we do? Remove the sentence in this article, or correct the Tele2 Arena article? If someone can find a newer source, perhaps from 2012, that would be appreciated. Start times

The group H games' start times are off by one hour to local time. They are marked in Stockholm's CET instead of Helsinki's EET. http://www.iihf.com/competition/352/schedule.html Ristipiste (talk) 19:50, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Canada qualified for playoffs

I`ve found three interesting possibilities of tie breaking scenarios at 13 points.

3-way tie CZE, CAN, NOR - points from direct games - CZE 5, CAN 3, NOR 1

4-way tie SUI 5, CZE 5, CAN 4, NOR 4

5-way tie SUI 8, CAN 7, SWE 6, CZE 5, NOR 4

In 4-way tie the game between CAN and NOR is the determining tie-breaker according Tie breaking formula at http://www.iihf.com/en/competition/352/home/format-rules.html because Step 2 (goal difference from mutual games) is applied, only if "three or more teams still remain tied in points." It`s more exact formulation compared with the previous years.

CZE - maximum of 14 points, NOR 15. Büt they play last game against each other.--CZMajkl (talk) 22:05, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

mmmmm. someone already made this calculation and edit, few minutes before sending this post ;-) --CZMajkl (talk) 22:16, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry :) Yeah, at first I forgot to calculate the 4-way and 5-way ties, but then I realized that they change nothing about Canada being already qualified. Just to complete - there is also possible a 4-way tie SWE 6, CAN 6, CZE 5, NOR 4.DrHades (talk) 23:25, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
UPDATE: Canada qualifies with points earned
CAN 16
SUI 14 (max. 20)
SWE 12 (max. 15)
NOR 9 (max. 15)
CZE 8 (max. 11)
This should resolve Canada's playoff situation. Great50 (talk) 19:09, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

USA and Quarterfinal

I can't figure a scenario where USA doesn't make the quarterfinals as of their win over France today. They haven't been flagged with the green background yet, though, and I'm wondering if someone else knows of a scenario. MrArticleOne (talk) 19:16, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes if Russia beats Austria, loses to Slovakia, Slovakia beats USA as well, then Germany wins all three remaining games---the usa would be in a tie with Russia for fourth, and lose on head-to-head

Ah yes, I was thinking Germany only had 1 game left to play (after today), not 2. MrArticleOne (talk) 19:52, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
UPDATE:USA Playoff status resolved
USA 15
Finland 14 (max. 17)
Russia 9 (max. 15)
Slovakia 7 (max. 13)
France 6 (max. 12)
Germany 7 (max. 10)

This should cement USA's playoff status Great50 (talk) 19:08, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Austria Eliminated

Austria has only 1 match left so it can has 8 points at most, which puts it under Finland, USA and Russia. Also Germany (7) still has a match to play against France (6). Possible ties are:

FRA 5, GER 4, AUT 0

SVK 7, FRA 5, GER 4, AUT 2

GER 7, FRA 5, AUT 3, LAT 3

GER 7, SVK 7, LAT 6, AUT 5, FRA 5

None of them leads with Austria going to playoff. DrHades (talk) 22:45, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: If Austria wins, and France and Germany both lose a game, then it will come down to the France–Germany matchup. If France defeats Germany in overtime; we will have the following:

France (6+2) - 5 tiebreaker pts.

Germany (7+1) - 4 tiebreaker pts.

Austria (5+3) - 0 tiebreaker pts.

Head-to-head will be FRA>GER>AUT; therefore Austria is eliminated. Great50 (talk) 19:42, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Relegation

With Belarus being safe for next year, and the relegation rules being "the lowest ranked two teams" (among teams eligible), that could've meant both relegated teams could be from Group H if Belarus finished last in Group S. Belarus can still finish last in Group S, but if they do the 7th ranked team in Group H will have more points than the 7th ranked team in Group S. So one team from each group will be relegated, meaning either Denmark or Slovenia will get relegated. -- Lejman (talk) 23:27, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tied teams and final ranking?

Should tied teams be kept together or separated??? Great50 (talk) 20:28, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Seperated as there are tiebreakers or? Kante4 (talk) 21:26, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
rules are explained in detail here, probably should look up the rules before editing.
