Serbia is qualified to 2nd round

Each team in pool B has two matches to be played. Each match awards at most 3 points to the winner. Number of points is the first criteria for ranking teams. Serbia has 8 points. So Cameroon that has 0 point and two matches to play can reach at most 6 points, below Serbia. Both Bulgaria and Canada have 3 points and both can reach 9 points, above Serbia. But since they will play each other, only one of them can reach 9 points. If their match ends in 3-0 or 3-1, the winner will reach at most 9 points and the looser 6 points. If their match ends 3-2, the winner will reach at most 8 points and the looser 7 points. In either case one of them, the looser of their match, won't reach Serbia. So we have two team that won't reach Serbia, Cameroon and the looser of the match between Bulgaria and Canada. Since four teams qualify to the second round and two are eliminated, having guaranteed that two teams can't reach Serbia means that Serbia is qualified to the second round. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 191.255.49.1 (talk) 13:18, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

USA is already in 3rd round

Similar situation as stated above with Serbia after september 25 matches were over in the first round. Since Serbia and Russia will play each other, only one of them can surpass USA. In the worst case scenario for USA they lose the remaining two matches against Serbia and Brazil by 3-0 and end up with 15 points 5 wins, 2 losses, 15 sets won, 8 lost with a sets ratio of 1.875. In this scenario, Brazil surpass the USA just by winning against them reaching 17 points. Also Russia must win their matche of october 4 against Brazil and since it's a worst case scenario for USA Russia win by 3-0. With that we have all but one match involving the four sides fighting for the three slots in the 3rd round. The only one match result pending would be Serbia vs Russia in October 5. Prior to that match in this scenario Serbia will be with 14 points, 5 wins, 1 loss, 16 sets won and 6 sets lost. Russia will be with 13 points, 4 wims, 2 losses, 15 sets won and 8 sets lost. If Serbia win that game by 3-0 or 3-1 they reach 17 points and surpass USA, but Russia remain with 13 points ranking 4th, with USA in 3rd goint to the 3rd round. If Serbia win by 3-2 we have a similar situation, just that Serbia will reach 16 points and Russia 14 points, but still USA 3rd and Russia 4th. If Russia win by 3-0 or 3-1 they reach 16 points and Serbia remain with 14 points with Russia ranking 2nd, USA 3rd and Serbia 4th. Again USA go to the 3rd round. The last result possible, Russia winning by 3-2, draws a tiebreaker situation. In that case all three teams, USA, Serbia and Russia, will have 15 points. The first tiebreake criteria, number of wins, would end up in a tie as well, all the three teams would have 5 wins. The second criteria is sets ratio. Serbia will have 18 sets won and 9 lost with a sets ratio of 2.000. USA will have 15 sets won and 8 lost with a sets ratio of 1.875. Russia will have 18 sets won and 10 lost with a sets ratio of 1.800. In that case Serbia would be ranked 2nd, USA 3rd, and Russia 4th. USA again go to the 3rd round as they do in all possible cases. So they are qualified to the 3rd round. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 177.94.146.141 (talk) 15:52, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why match duration (1:28) is different from sum of set duration (1:57)? (in others reports match duration is longer that set duration beacause of time-out periods)
