Spanish wiki has district maps and district candidate lists implying multi-member constituencies. There are several English language sources saying FPTP, but are we sure they are right? Under Ecuador politics we say that Congress is elected using multi-member constituencies. We need a reliable and up to date source for this. The electoral system is not FPTP (IPU is wrong), but proportional for both tiers (D'Hondt in the lower tier and Ste-Lague in the nationwide tier); the provinces are the lower tier districts and only the 3 largest are divided in 2-4 districts, see art. 150.2 and 164 electoral law ; maps and descriptions of the division of three largest provinces in electoral districts at CNE website----Bancki (talk) 15:21, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed the poll attributed to CIS (Centro de Investigacion Social) has been added to this page. After some research, I can't find any information about or a website for the company, nor can I find any other polls they have ever conducted, for this or previous elections. All links to this poll trace back to the same origin, namely opinaecuador.com. Most seemingly reputable news sources have not referenced this poll. I suspect this of possibly being fake news. Can someone explain how the election system for the National Assembly works? I learn here (http://www.globaladvocacy.com/ecuador_electoral_system.html) that voters may cast as many votes in each circumscription as there are members to be elected. Azuay, for example, elects five members. 393,185 voters cast valid votes, so the maximum number of votes should be 393,185 x 5, which is 1,962,925. But in fact the number of votes cast in Azuay was 5,094,068, which is just under 13 votes per voter. Can someone explain this? Intelligent Mr Toad 2 (talk) 11:09, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I would hazard a guess that the vote figures listed on the CNE website are from the nationwide constituency as they do not include any of the regional parties. As this is a 15-seat constituency and elected by open list PR, around 13 votes per voter would seem reasonable, assuming not everyone uses all 15 votes?

Also, at the moment the article states that Ecuador has SMCs, which is backed up by some other sources, but the way the results are presented in es.wiki would appear to confirm the system you mention is in use. Number 57 13:24, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, yes I see that is the explanation. The CNE presents two sets of Assembly figures, one for the province-level constituencies (which are all multi-member and proportional, with "vote pooling" between the parties), and one for the national-list members. This article is still seriously defective and should be overhauled.

A recount for the presidential election was announced around April 8 and no mention of that appears in the article.

The result of the recount was to have been announced April 10. Well, today is April 11. Still no mention of the recount.

Furthermore, there appears to be a news blackout in the US media. That in itself should be a part of this article. ---Dagme (talk) 15:49, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Something seems off. Are the national assembly votes including all the votes for every office by every person?
