Just an assumption: the office of Vice President of Russia, was abolished after Rutskoy's tenure, to avoid future ambitious veeps? Mightberight/wrong 21:19, 12 November 2005 (UTC).

So it was. The office of Vifce President was abolished and in case needed, the incumbent prime minister was to become acting president. Such a case occured somewhere in the late 1990s, when Yeltsin had certain heart treatment (surgery), and Viktor Chernomyrdin, Russian premier of the time, held the position of the 'acting president' for a day or two (see source [1]) Constanz 14:31, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
