I've removed the content shown in the box below because it's not consistent with the title and current contents of the article. If the extra films are nominated films which did not win, then please provide that information somewhere. Furthermore, since more than one award is listed below, either a new article or new section should be created for it (ie, Best British Film). Please don't put this back in the article in its current form, since it is just creating a mess. Slowmover 18:47, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm trying to get this film to conform with the style shown in the Academy Award for Best Picture page, which is far more comprehensive. The Bafta award for Best film has always been split in two: what I had was correct, we just need to do all of it. And we need to have a little explanation at the top. Because at the moment, this page is next to useless. ....(Complain)(Let us to it pell-mell) 06:59, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds like a good plan, but I suggest you work on the page elsewhere and make the changes when you have it completed. You can start a new subpage in your "user space" simply by creating a red link like this: User:Thefourdotelipsis/BAFTA, click on the link and start editing. When you're done, move the content to the BAFTA page. Happy editing! Slowmover 15:53, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification

Could someone add some clarification about some issues: First, why in 1985 the producer only the got the prize while the lead says : and then in 1985 it was shared between the Director and Producer.. Second, why is there two winner in 1996. And third, could someone clarify the note written in the end, I didn't quite understand it. Thank you. CG 13:15, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's fixed, and there were two because it was a tie. ....(Complain)(Let us to it pell-mell) 07:17, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Could you mention the tie in the lead? CG 10:12, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. ....(Complain)(Let us to it pell-mell) 23:28, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Totally inaccurate liste!!!

After checking the list and checking the sources I found out that the list is totally inaccurate. First of all, the main source, the Bafta archive site is totally ignored, but it consists of the more realible source for this list. And second, you should have noticed that the two sources that you provided Epinions.com and IMDB conflict with each other: IMDB's dates are always one year ahead. For example the first award was given in 1947 (according to Bafta.org and Epinions.com) but IMDB states it's 1948. It seems the IMDB gives different dates than the Bafta.org site, and therefore I consider the source of this list totally inaccurate.

An other issue is that the list does not mention the "Best Foreign-language Film" which was split for the Best film award and the "Best British Film" known as "The Alexander Korda Award for the outstanding British Film of the year" which is equivalent to the old Best British film. The list should provide clarifications about the splitting of the award and why it isn't mentioned in the list.

Anyway, I'm proposing we temporarly defeature the list until these matters are settled. CG 15:25, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as for the date, that's because IMDb chooses to list the year the awards were held in, not the year the films were made. So it could be either way. But if you can get consensus, I'll be more that happy to change it. And as for the other Film awards... I had no idea. I was too busy getting all the nominees and tablizing the article MYSELF. I'll add them. ....(Complain)(Let us to it pell-mell) 23:32, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll put a request in
WP:RFC and I'll see what I can do. CG 11:16, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply

1998 - Best Film Not in the English Language Nomination for Jan Svěrák???

1998 - Best Film Not in the English Language Nomination for Jan Svěrák???

Film: Ma vie en rose, director: Jan Svěrák. This is obviously a fully mistake. Jan Svěrák is a czeck director and he never made "Ma vie en Rose". --

Well you could have fixed it, but as it happens, I already have. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:02, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Year of award clarification needed?

"The years given are those in which the films under consideration were released, not the year of the ceremony, which always takes place the following year."

This is clearly not [currently] the case - BAFTA's 'Film in 2013' Awards take place this evening (February 10, 2013), for 2012 releases, and the nominees are listed under "2013" - and it appears that past years' awards (previously correctly dated per the above criterion) have now been reallocated to the year of award.

No separate article for Best Foreign Film?

I just tried to link to "BAFTA Award for Best Foreign Film" and was very surprised to see that it didn't exist. I've created it as a redirect to this article, but to be honest I think there should be a specific page. I'm assuming the reason the award is currently combined with this ("Best Film") is because before the 1983 there was no such category, and foreign language films were included in "Best Film From any Source" (until 1968, it looks like) and then simply "Best Film". Well, I still think we should have a separate article. Looking closely, we already have

BAFTA Award for Best British Film should also be expanded, with the nominations on here (since 1993, when it was created) split off. --Loeba (talk) 19:21, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply

The award for Foreign Film is "Film Not in the English Language". Right, Best Film, Best British Film, and Best Film Not in the English Language are different awards and should have separate pages; it may be argued that Best Film and Best British Film stay merged, but not the foreign film category. Not sure why you created the redirect though if they should be separate.

Well just because it would have been a red link in an article I was editing, heh. But it's fine, redirects are easy to change. Well it's good to have some agreement. I mentioned this at both
WT:PRIZE, so if no-one turns up with objections in the next day or two I'll make a split. I still think we may as well make a page for Best British Film (since 1993). There will be people who specifically want to see that category. --Loeba (talk) 10:37, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply

Okay, no objections so I have expanded BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in the English Language. I will get to Best British Film soon as well and then split off the content from this article so everything is more focussed. --Loeba (talk) 15:01, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

BAFTA Award for Best British Film now also fully expanded. I realised since starting this section than the award for "Film From Any Source" still included British films, and many were included in both categories, so it was actually exactly the same award as the current "Best Film". So the only nominations on this page now are for "Film From Any Source" and "Best Film", which I think is much more logical. But, the lead currently says: "The years given are those in which the films under consideration were released, not the year of the ceremony, which always takes place the following year" - that's completely not true, lol, it gives the year of the ceremony. But we should definitely give the year of the films (like the Oscar pages do) otherwise it is misleading. I've done this correctly on the new articles, but it still needs to be fixed here (and on all the templates, it looks like...what a nuisance!) I'll get back to this, hopefully tomorrow, but I'm done for tonight. --Loeba (talk) 20:55, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply
