but there are many ports in the UK with the same if not a better position to attack American shipping so it makes no sense. It was just French Imperialism (Fdsdh1 (talk) 20:11, 16 November 2012 (UTC))[reply]

Does anyone know who the traitor was (mentioned in the last paragrpah) I cannot find any evidence of this from other sources and would be interested to know.

According to Balleine, Moyse Corbet was arrested and court-martialled. The pilot who betrayed the route through the rocks was named Journeaux (no first name given). If I remember correctly Édouard(?) According to Mayne, Pierre Journeaux and Édouard Millais were detained following the discovery of papers held by de Rullecourt. Millais was released in May 1781 due to lack of evidence. Man vyi 16:03, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Battle of Jersey is often claimed [1] in Jersey as the last battle on British soil. Most people in Jersey believe Jersey to be British soil - hence the claim. Is there an alternative claimant to the title? Man vyi 15:22, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I personally don't care whether it's the last on British soil or not, but in the face of objections to mentioning the claim, I've attempted to define it through the use of British Islands. Forgive my ignorance, and I hope someone's keeping a watch on this page, but what's the relevance of the American war in the lede? There's no mention of it in the article, and I can't really see why it should be mentioned here. Was it a case of the French trying to help out the colonials? Mèrcie bein des fais. This battle was fought in 1781, during the American War of Independence, which France entered in 1777. The war was fought in theaters from North America and the West Indies to Europe and India beginning in 1778. Magic♪piano 17:13, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Still don't really understand how this relates to the American War of Independance, the Battle of Jersey didn't really affect the outcome of the war apart from troop movements but even then they were insignificant compared to the number of troops fighting in North America.
