Someone with access to Richard Gerberding, The Rise of the Carolingians and the Liber Historiae Francorum (1987) and sufficient time, should edit into this article a report on Gerberding's assessment, based on Liber Historiae Francorum's recension of Gregory of Tours, that Campus Vogladensis is to be identified, not with Vouillé but with Voulon, south of Poitiers. There has been a Battle of Vouille Symposium at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign last week, as I post this, marking the 1500th anniversary.
