Edit requests, please!

{{request edit}} Hi there! My name is Audra Williams, and I'm the Digital Specialist for the Canadian wing of the Because I am a Girl initiative. I have made a handful of edits to the page, just to clarify that the Day of the Girl is October 11, not October 22, and to change the verb tenses in that section.

I am writing to request a few edits to the page:

1. Indicating that Oct 11, 2012 (the first International Day of the Girl) was the Global launch of the Because I am a Girl Campaign (media coverage here: http://www.nzweek.com/world/because-i-am-a-girl-campaign-launched-worldwide-11731/)

2. In the reports section, the addition of the 2012 report: Learning For Life. (media coverage: http://www.thehimalayantimes.com/fullNews.php?headline=Initiative+to+prioritise+quality+education+for+girls+&NewsID=350651)

3. A "Day of the Girl" sub-section, that outlines how we got the day (info here: http://becauseiamagirl.ca/Page.aspx?pid=4433 ) and how it was celebrated (info here: http://blog.becauseiamagirl.ca/we-turned-the-world-pink-for-the-day-of-the-girl/), and what notable people commented on the day (collected here: http://storify.com/PlanCanada/people-around-the-world-celebrate-day-of-the-girl

4. An expansion of the Canada section, to include: the different parts of the Because I am a Girl campaign here, including the Girl Speakers Bureau (media coverage here: http://www.vicnews.com/community/173403191.html), annual "smartgirl" contests (media coverage here: http://www.bclocalnews.com/news/128003213.html), partnerships with local school boards (media coverage here: http://www.northumberlandview.ca/index.php?module=news&type=user&func=display&sid=17829), and the participation of

).

5. Inclusion of the information that the Day of the Girl focus this year is on education, with the goal of getting 4 million girls in school (media coverage: http://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2012/10/11/Mariane-Pearl-reflects-on-launch-of-International-Girls-Day/WEN-2901349982962/)

Those sound like good additions to the article. Feel free to work on integrating this material yourself, as there's no telling when other editors will have a chance to pick up the ball on it (since this isn't a high profile article). Regarding expanding the Canada section, that is fine as long as the international focus of the campaign is still properly conveyed in the article, and the material on the Canadian program does not have
undue weight in the article. Kaldari (talk) 21:35, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply

Additions to this page

Hi, I am a student at LSU in Women Studies and I am working on a wikipedia project and I want to add some information to the "Because I am a Girl (campaign)" in the United States. I will be expanding on the United States aspect of the state of the world’s girls 2015. Under these state of the world’s girl records of 2015, I will expand on two major subtopics: girls in the global economy and learning for life. I want to elaborate on that because there are so many records even in 2015 which proves the gender inequality and that is why this campaign is still going.
