Merge

I think the definition given in the lead section lends credence to the notion that this article should be merged with behavior modification. Behavior therapy is a set of methods one of which is behavior modification; the treatments they describe are the same thing without the benefit of clear distinctions. The minor themes in the articles are where and when the terms were first used and who contributed what. There are errors in each article that will become obvious when they are combined. Please reply here before making changes to either article. -- Cdw ♥'s(talk) 04:38, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This uses outdate terminology and the ICD-9 from 1975. The current one, the ICD-10, is from 1992 and terminologies in behavior therapy has changed about 5 years after the manual had come out. No one has used the word behavior modification in almost 15 years if they kept up with cutting-edge studies. There ARE different forms of behavior therapy:
Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), Applied behavior analysis (ABA, especially in the form of Positive behavior support or PBS), and Habit reversal training (HRT). ATC . Talk 05:21, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply

British spelling

Why is the British spelling of "behavior" used here? LHM 05:49, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The British spelling is used because the original redirect, and the content of the first versions of the article after it was changed from a redirect used British spelling. Currently both are used in the article. Following Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Retaining the existing variety I am converting all to 'behaviour', and adding a 'British English' template here on the talk page. StarryGrandma (talk) 18:28, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've updated the article to continue to use British English, as much of the newer content did not use BrE spellings in a consistent way. GhostOfNoMeme (talk) 20:04, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Needs lots more subheadings

The sections go on way too long without subheadings to divide them up. This is not a textbook it's an article. The writing doesn't need to be shortened, but it needs to be broken up with sub-headers.Cliffswallow-vaulting (talk) 08:36, 16 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
