What does ${\displaystyle \langle \;\rangle }$ mean in this context? And is ${\displaystyle {\mathcal {P}}}$ the power set? What is ${\displaystyle \nu }$? Crasshopper (talk) 17:21, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have modified the notation slightly, please let me know if this still does not help. The answers in brief: ${\displaystyle \langle \;\rangle }$ here indicates merely a pair/couple. I would normally use plain parentheses, but the present formulation is not confusing. ${\displaystyle {\mathcal {P}}}$ is indeed the power set, I have made this explicit with the new notation. Finally ${\displaystyle \nu }$ should simply be ${\displaystyle v}$, the value function.Koczy (talk) 13:00, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
