• There are at least 10 broken links.[1]

• All citations need to show the publisher, last access date, and language if not English.

• The prose needs some attention. It is unidiomatic, awkward and even unclear in some places. A few examples:
  • "... the Portuguese colony of Brazil kept its territorial, political and linguistic integrity due to the action of the Portuguese administrative effort."
  • "Brazil is the first most biodiverse country."
  • "Judiciary authorities exercise jurisdictional duties almost exclusively." Does that mean they do other things as well, or that there are other authorities who also exercise jurisdictional duties (whatever those are)?

• "President Washington Luís (1926-30) used to say that "to govern is to open roads". All direct quotations need to be referenced to their source.

• "In 1824, Pedro closed the Constituent Assembly, stating that the body was 'endangering liberty'. Pedro then produced a constitution modeled on that of Portugal (1822) and France (1814). It specified indirect elections and created the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government; however, it also added a fourth branch, the 'moderating power', to be held by the Emperor." If the text in quotes is a direct quotation, then it must be cited. As is stands, it looks like a personal opinion.

• Several sections are inadequately cited:
  • The first three paragraphs of Origins
  • First paragraph of Empire
  • The last half of Subdivisions
  • First three paragraphs of Regions
  • Almost all of States
  • First paragraph of Science and technology

• "Finally, the Brazilian Army is responsible for land-based military operations, with a strength of approximately 190,000 soldiers." Statistics must be cited.

• "Indeed, imperial centralization ran counter to their desire for local autonomy. By 1889 Pedro II had stepped down and the Republican system had been adopted in Brazil. In the end, the empire really fell because of a coup d'état." Looks like original research.

• The Human rights section needs to be expanded.

• Prose still needs attention, for instance: "A global power in agriculture and natural resources, Brazil unleash the greatest burst of prosperity has witnessed in three decades."

• All citations need full details – author, publication and so on. Ref #42, for instance, simply says "JSTOR".

• MSN Encarta cannot be considered a suitable source, but it is quoted at least seven times.

• Citation #59 is broken.
