Chancellor

Is the Chancellor the Archbishop of Canterbury

City University, London has the Lord Mayor of London) or was Rowan Williams chosen for his own qualities? Timrollpickering 13:29, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply

Ex officio - the Archbishop of Canterbury has always had a similar status throughout the institution's history, although previously described as 'visitor' there is no functional difference Vannerley

University ratings

(I'm posting this to all articles on UK universities as so far discussion hasn't really taken off on

Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities
.)

There needs to be a broader convention about which university rankings to include in articles. Currently it seems most pages are listing primarily those that show the institution at its best (or worst in a few cases). See

Redirects

Searching for "Christchurch College" redirects to this page. Surely however more people looking for "Christchurch College" will be looking for the Oxford University college (even if they spell it as 2 words rather than 3!). So I think at least a disambiguation page is needed (but I don't know how to create one).

added disambiguation tag at the top of this page. StAnselm 13:51, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This institution has always seperated the two words: I recall Dr. Mason being sarcastic about people who never worked that out during his address to new students in October 1968 Vannerley

New?

The opening sentence says this is a "new" university. It was founded 35 years ago - when will it cease to be new? StAnselm 13:51, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New University is a term of art, with regards to UK universities. Although, since this college has only just acquired university status, it is also a very new university in that sense. — mholland (talk) 14:04, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply

Which is correct?

"by 1988 the university had 1500 students.

"The college was granted the university status in 2005"

So which is correct? 2A00:23C4:3991:3200:A969:4082:6883:F924 (talk) 21:04, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
