Faculty or Department?

Someone changed "Faculty" to "Department" when referring to this medical school, with the explanation(s): "in english, faculty means usually professors", and then "this is where I wanted to change faculty to department". Well, I am very well aware of what faculty means in English, and what department means. Still, I do not think the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy can be called, by any stretch of the imagination, a mere "department" of the University of Bucharest. I believe it is pretty much a stand-alone unit -- referred by the locals as "Facultatea de Medicină". In particular, I believe it had all along its own dean (or equivalent thereof), probably even higher ranked administrator, not just a Dept. chairman. So I say, let's try to convey the meaning as precisely as possible, even if it doesn't fully agree with US/UK usage -- and even then, I never heard of the

Harvard", or some such. While at it, and come to think of it, the administrative structure of the Medical School, and how this fits (if at all) into the organizational scheme of the full University of Bucharest, should be mentioned. I do not know enough about this, but it's even probably the case these are two separate universities by now, and so, also colloquially known as a "Faculty" (at least, that's my understanding), it's really a University, as the title says.
