Table of Elements

The article states that the table of elements was not updated in the 2006 overhaul. I could be mistaken, but my understanding is that before the overhaul, the most difficult moves were classified as 'Super E' and that the F, G and H difficulty categories were created as a result of the overhaul. Can someone please clarify this in the article? --Spuzzdawg (talk) 01:25, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Other Codes

On the webpage of the FIG other Codes of Points are mentioned: for rhythmic gymnastics, trampolining, aerobics and acrobatics. Perhaps it should be mentioned in the article, that they exist. But so far I have no idea, where to mention them. When I have more time, I'll think of it. Cmapm 19:17, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's an excellent point. I tried adding a sentence about it to the introduction of the article.
Perhaps there could eventually be a "see also" section with links to articles for the COP in T&T, etc? Mademoiselle Sabina 09:51, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I also suggest to rename (i.e. "Move") the article to a new name: "Code of Points (artistic gymnastics)". What do you think of this? BTW, I edited a bit your comment for better appearance - spaces in front here don't indent somewhy. Cmapm 13:29, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, now I know how to indent, thank you. =) I agree with your suggestion to rename/move the article. Perhaps we could also set up a disambiguation page with links to the other Codes? Mademoiselle Sabina 07:17, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Don't mention it :) I moved the article. Disambiguation page is a good idea. I've created it but could you, please, look at it, in particular, my English can be, as always, horrible :) Cmapm 01:06, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I went over and read the new disambig page. I moved the text around a little, but it looked great! Your English is absolutely fine. Thank you for setting up the disambig page and changing some of the gymn page links to redirect to the new page! =) Mademoiselle Sabina 04:14, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for you kind words! I am flattered :) Cmapm 13:08, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This page is very, very inaccurate. First, there is a different COP for Men's and Women's artistic gymnastics, and the two are not similar enough to be discussed in the same page, as attempted here. Second, for men's, there are not different COPs for the differing levels, e.g., NCAA, J.O., etc (with one rare exception I can think of for men's). Rather, they all use the same CoP, but make exceptions and modifications to the existing CoP, but do not change skill values of the FIG CoP. See http://lawandmensgymnastics.blogspot.com/ for an analysis. Third, much of the substantive data is factually inaccurate or plain wrong, e.g., a fall is now 1.0 off, it's not the top 8 skills - it's the dismount plus the next nine best skills, etc., for men's. 71.62.13.146 (talk) 20:11, 19 March 2009 (UTC)Devin DeBacker[reply]

Link

Yesterday the FIG's website introduced a new feature for its online publications - "Document manager". And the link to the Code since then points to the note "Please click here to access the Document Manager". After a click, and a free login documents can be browsed. Maybe in the article the direct link to login page should be provided with a notice "requires free registration"? Also, should languages (English, French, German, Russian) be mentioned in the link? "they cannot win"

"contestants assigned a lower start value or difficulty rating are knocked out of the winner's circle before the competition begins. They may compete, but they cannot win."

they can win if the gymnast with higher start value makes mistakes... several gymnasts with the highest start value ended up in the last position --Mdtr (talk) 05:43, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Table of elements 2

If I am not mistaken there are (were) forbidden elements, in the code of points, due to being too dangerous/risky. Mention of apparatae in which such elements exist and number of them. Maybe something like this table

highest
DoD
floor high
bar
parallel
bars
pommel
horse
rings balance
beam
uneven
bars
vault
I 2 3
7.2 1
forbidden

Record scores

It would be great if best total scores per apparatus for men and women, prior to and post 2006 were included. It would give some reference points and perspective especially to those who are not so avid fans of gymnastic. 213.149.62.12 (talk) 23:08, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Banned skills : need help / mentor

Hi there,
This issue requires involvement by a knowledgeable contributor. I started a small draft to list banned skills:

  • Draft:List of banned gymnastics skills

but this is absolutely not my field. At minima, it would be interesting to document the list of banned skills or of skills which are "minored", such the Biles, due to dangerousness or other arguments. Yug (talk) 14:57, 9 May 2021 (UTC) Note: Overall, I think we miss an article-list with all gymnastics skills and their Code of points' (see below). But I'am likely unaware of various obstacles.[reply]

Table of elements

The table of elements would be a positive feature to add to this article or to wikipedia. I'am really not familiar with this field so the table below is really a starting point to consider. Yug (talk) 10:23, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Code of Points (artistic gymnastics) → Code of Points (gymnastics) – There are Codes of Points for rhythmic, trampolining, and other disciplines, not just artistic gymnastics. I don't think it's likely that each discipline would need its own Code of Points article, and until I'm proven wrong this content should live at an overarching title.
