Oldest speaking gathering of any kind
The claim that this is "oldest speaking gathering of any kind after the United Kingdom Parliament" seems dubious. The
Académie française and Royal Society are also older. Is there any reliable, independent source for this claim? Groomtech (talk) 11:24, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

- I see that the entry has been amended, but I wanted to agree that the original claim was incorrect. Having said that, "speaking gathering" is uselessly ambiguous. As far as I know it is, however, the oldest extant affinity group whose purpose is debate/discussion. Bricology (talk) 19:54, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
