United Kingdom - Port of Tilbury

Posting on the talk page here as I'm not 100% sure of my facts, hopefully someone with more knowledge can elaborate. Since the Port of Tilbury was privatised could not the Port of Tilbury Police now be classified as Company police? --94.173.33.157 (talk) 09:30, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Other constables section of

Policing in the United Kingdom states "there are 10 companies whose employees are sworn in as constables under section 79 of the Harbours, Docks, and Piers Clauses Act 1847" and "there are also some forces created by specific legislation such as the Port of Tilbury Police (Port of London Act 1968)" --94.173.33.157 (talk) 11:55, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply

Ranch deputies

Am told that the

Irvine Ranch and other large landholders in California had ranch deputies for quite a while, their authority and training were through the Sheriff but their salary, benefits, and vehicles were provided by the ranch. Is this still the case? knoodelhed (talk) 17:27, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply

Confused about the scope of this article

The article states in the lead: "Company police, also called private police ...". Private police is a separate article. How similar are these two concepts? Are they essentially the same? Should the articles be merged? Any input is appreciated. Regards, DesertPipeline (talk) 18:13, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
