I would suggest that you support your subsection on preventative conservation measures or causes of deterioration that includes handling methods and notables, such as the use of nitrile gloves over cotton gloves, because the cotton can cause separation of the gilding from the frames, also the use of a cart over direct handling. In short, a simple do`s and don`t list for handling delicate or gilded frames (Good prevention of deterioration starts with clear and simple staff training) would be a very reasonable and useful addition to your discussion of frame deterioration and preventative measures (Ref: MRM5 Object Handling section and National Park Handbook). I believe that your article`s format aligns with the Wikipedia guidelines. Your basic contents layout makes sense and flows well generally, starting with a broad definition of the subject then tapering down to the specialists and details of conservation and restorations treatments. Final Project Outline Review Hi Ashley! Good job on your outline. I think beginning with your discussion of authentic vs. replica frames is great, as it establishes the type of frames you’ll be discussing (is there an age/period range for the frames?). The online references you listed are from reliable sites (great!). Another great resource (that I know you have!) might be the Winterhrur “Caring for Your Collection,” which discusses gilded frames. How did you decide the order in which you list the various procedures under your conservation section? For example, are these ordered in “least invasive/damaged to most?” I’m just curious. I’m also curious how you’ll identify or “vet” framing conservators- I’d like to lists conservators for my “neon” article, and right now I’m just listing a few referenced in museum project articles. –Patrice [User:Pat Connelly|Pat Connelly]] (talk)
