Split proposal

I propose to split this article into Coumarin (ONLY about coumarin, mentioning that many derivatives are known) and

Coumarins (all the derivatives, but acknowledging that we already have a specialized article on 4-Hydroxycoumarins). The existence of 4-Hydroxycoumarins is a real complication--Smokefoot (talk) 21:58, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply

Support: @Smokefoot: Support. And its strange a lot of Wikipedia chemical articles first talk about the compound and afterwards the group. But probably because of the forced "singular title". Christian75 (talk) 10:27, 6 March 2021 (UTC) (mispelling made the ping fail @Smokefoot:)[reply]

Support: @
4-hydroxycoumarins. From the style guide, Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Chemistry/Compound classes, it seems that Coumarin compound would be a reasonable title, or something similar. Latrissium (talk) 09:58, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply

Support: The separation would help prevent confusion for some reactions that create Coumarins (the general class of compounds). Such as Pechmann condensation LoomCreek (talk) 20:14, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Support: Per Latrissium's suggestion Coumarin compound or other title with >1 words. Differentiation by only 1 letter would be confusing. Invasive Spices (talk) 8 October 2022 (UTC)
Coumarin derivatives would also be possible. Invasive Spices (talk) 31 December 2022 (UTC)
