Reviewer Note

It seems to be time to accept this. This now is long enough that it warrants being split out from the parent company article. Robert McClenon (talk) 05:53, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Inaccuracies

hi, i think the page has a lot of great detail and im pleased im not having to write it as i just dont have time, however there are a number of things that are not accurate. i dont want to stomp on the good work or dismiss the effort to get this far, so how can i help correct these things... discussion here, email, just edit the page and let others feedback on that? rgds Peter he page? Hi Peter. Definitely any corrections or expansions that can be given are welcome, so long as there are appropriate sources to support them. I think this talk page is likely the best place to cover them, as there are likely other users, more knowledgeable of the product than I, who might want to be part of that discussion. Thank you. Managing the List of Media

Hi all.
Please be aware that the list of media produced using DV Resolve isn't meant to be a complete, comprehensive list of everything made with Resolve (which is obviously a huge number of things). The purpose of this section is to give a few notable examples, giving the reader a feel for the standard of what Resolve is involved with. They can always visit the references provided if they want to read further.
Inflating this section too much will only result in what Wikipedia calls a Coatrack (where a secondary list eclipses the article's main subject), which is a violation of WP's standards. This problem is something that the page already went through during the earliest drafts, and the content was scaled back, based on feedback from the article creation board, who wouldn't even approve the article to exist until the list size was brought under control. Feel free to refer back to earlier versions of this article for details.
Of course if anyone wants to make & link to a separate stand-alone list article of all Film, TV, etc. made using resolve, that would be very welcome, but it would need to be its own page, not part of this one.
Thanks for your understanding. IAmTheNeil (talk) 20:28, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This Page Shouldn't be an Advert

Hi all,
There have been some great additions to help expand the article, but please remember that, as per Wikipedia's guidelines for all articles, this shouldn't be a promotional page for Resolve (see Wikipedia is not a soapbox or means of promotion for more details). If it fails to adhere to that standard, the page could end up being heavily-edited, or even deleted, by other reviewers.
That's not to say it should avoid clearly & reliably referenced, objective details about what the tool can do, and the many successful things it's been used in (so that readers can reach their own conclusions); however, it does mean that the wording should be neutral and not too over-promotional. For example, describing any changes in its history as 'revolutionary' or describing it as 'The Emmy-winning DaVinci Resolve' are fair play in a Blackmagic Design press-release, but not on WP -- instead, discussing the awards the software has received, or the award-winning shows its been involved with, is the way to go.
It also means that citations directly from BMD themselves aren't appropriate. WP wants mainly reliable secondary sources (see Primary, secondary and tertiary sources for more details). Obviously, unsourced facts, claims, etc. can't stay until they have appropriate citations to support them.
I know we all want to ensure people can realize how important Resolve is to the industry, which is why we need to make sure the article stays of a high quality.
Hope this helps! Thanks for the support. IAmTheNeil (talk) 17:22, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fusion Standalone vs. Fusion in DV Resolve

Hi all. Please don't include details related to the standalone version of Fusion. Yes, Resolve now includes an integrated version of fusion, and details related specifically to that make sense, but anything else about Fusion more generally belongs on the article for Blackmagic Fusion itself, rather than here. If, in the future, it ever makes sense to combine the Fusion & Resolve articles together, that would be a broader discussion, but it doesn't seem to make sense currently. Thank you. IAmTheNeil (talk) 19:52, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A small sub-section in functionality has been added to describe Fusion in more detail, along with what it's been used for in the past. Hopefully this section can be updated with post-integration examples once better sources are available. For now, it should sufficiently cover the topic.
