I am an American living in Vietnam for the past 7 years and in Dalat for 8 months. I am interested in adding a few pictures to the Dalat collection and also to the article about Artichoke. Most of my time in Vietnam was spend travelling just about everywhere by motor bike on my own and taking pictures all over Vietnam. To date there are 8000 pictures in my library some of them very good. Unfortunately I do not know how to upload the pictures yet. Please tell me how. Hi Jackeven, I've left you a message on your user talk page with a link to the Upload Wizard on Wikimedia Commons, which should help you upload your photos. Let me know if you need any help with it! --dragfyre_ʞןɐʇc 14:06, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This article does not represent a NPOW.

This article is perhaps written by an oversea Vietnamese who possesses hatred to the current Communist regime in Vietnam, and do not know much about Dalat of today. In his eyes, the Communist regime has been spoiling the city, but the fact is not like this: Dalat is currently the most beautiful city of Vietnam, and has developped much in recent years. The author has no word about the famous Flower Festival which is held there annually. He didn't mention either the fact that colonial Dalat was reserved for French, and Vietnamese couldn't go there without special permissions.

I'd intended to cut some biased part of the article, however I can't do this since it would destroy the construction of the article. I suggest someone rewrite this article. If no one is willing to, I will.

I'm an Englishman in Dalat now. The centre is like any other Vietnamese city. Larger properties have been replaced by smaller concrete high rises (numbered e.g. 26A, 26B, ..., 26G) and they are typically ugly.
Earlier today I was at the house of a fifty-ish Vietnamese chap. The view from his house is of a hillside covered in garish concrete hotels and shops with corrugated iron roofs. He grumbled that it used to be a green hill with a single house on it.
Dalat probably remains the most beautiful city in Vietnam, and it has developed much. But the development is destroying the beauty. 21st April 2007.

i delete the external links of the dalat international highschool in Penang, Malaysia because it has nothing related to the Dalat city of Vietnam ____________________________________________________________________

For what it is worth, I once had a student in my composition 1 class who wrote an essay about Dalat. He claimed that the natural setting, climate, and surviving French colonial architecture made Dalat the loveliest city in Vietnam. Yet when I suggested that he write his research paper about Dalat, he declined, citing a lack of scholarship about Dalat. Since his essay, I have browsed the web looking for material about Dalat, and have found very little -- and 90% of what I have found focuses on the mountian scenery, with very little regarding the architecture and the urban fabric of the town itself. It would be wonderful if a person with knowledge about Dalat would rewrite this article, and include pictures of the historic French colonial architecture which is said to contribute so much to the town's character.

The following line annoys me:

"While superficially amusing, the compound is let down by the construction debris and household refuse behind the facades, and the lack of attention to safety issues."

First, there is no source (may be own experience and may be true, but there is no source). But more importantly, to me, it sounds too much like a tourist guide. I don't think Wikipedia should comment on the quality of tourist attractions at all. 109.193.231.132 (talk) 22:29, 9 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dalat academy

i'd like to be sure if the first promotion is 1950. i have info about the Hoàng Diệu promotion of 1952 being the first with Bao Dai inaugurating it with a baptism. i'll check my sources later. thanks for any info about this anyway. see Vietnamese National Army per details. Dead links

While repairing the bare URLs in the article, I discovered a couple of Dead links—I hope someone who is more acquainted with the subject can find suitable alternatives.--Soulparadox (talk) 06:05, 22 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Da lat is romantic and dream city. When coming to Da Lat, I feel that travell to some places of Europe. Da Lat is the City of thousands of flowers and huneymooners with beautiful French villas, the fresh air, the lovely waterfalls and gorgeous lakes. Da Lat’ specific feartures ar pine forest with twisting roads and tree marigold, cherry blossom in the winter. The nature gives Da Lat things that no where has with the cool weather annusually. Architecture article split request

Feel free to call me wrong, but does anyone else agree with me on the fact that this section has the potential to have its own article? Not to mention it already has a featured article on

More images to add on template

Dear all, I want to include these images on the template, however, when I do it, it appears with a maintenance tag and I cannot do it. Can someone perhaps be able to include these in to match with Vietnamese wikipedia?

History

The history of this region starts with the presence of the French? There is some mention of the name "Da Lat" derived from ethnic minority people, but there is no other mention of the people in this region before the French. Most Wikipedia articles about regions start with discussion about geology and pre-historic antecedents. This article should do the same. I agree with a commenter above that this sounds too much like a travel brochure. If this is to be a neutral article of the Wikiproject Vietnam, it needs to document the historical people of this region -- not beginning with its colonizers.
