Small re-write

Have attempted a small re-write of this, attempting to keep it very concise and short, using the Reynolds refs where possible plus refs that relate to all of the notable releases mentioned here plus more. It had over time mutated somewhat.

A quick note: Have added a distinguish for the later use of Darkcore within Hardcore (electronic dance music genre). Darkcore (or darkside hardcore, or dark hardcore) was very much first used in late 1992 as that sub-genre of Breakbeat hardcore.

There's some crossover with this and what was often dubbed

Hardcore jungle. That phase of 1993 where hardcore and jungle was still experimenting and before you would really class a tune as jungle or Drum and bass. That said, all these genre names end up a little imperfect to describe such a wealth of influences and interwoven sounds in the music. Thanks Altlondon (talk) 18:52, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply

List of examples

I removed a long list of examples per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Music#Lists which says we should not be hosting a list of performers in any genre article. A list of song examples is much the same thing.

There was also a problem with referencing, so I removed some poor quality references such as Discogs which is not reliable per

WP:ALBUMAVOID

.

After a reversion by

WP:LISTPEOPLE

touches upon the question of who to list, settling on only the notable ones.)

So let's stick to prose descriptions and avoid listing people who are not notable. Let's stick to reliable sources. Binksternet (talk) 19:17, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
