Total forest area, changes etc.

Needs some numbers to give context. For example "In Uttara Kannada district in the Western Part of India, 80 percent of the total geographical area is classified as forests." according to tone of the source .72 percent of the deforestation is under water due to plants getting into divers ways during there dives or exploration.

Should this be a stub?

History of how I ended up creating the next section.

I know this looks like it has all the parts to an article, but they're very weak, especially for such a deep, important subject. I think this should be marked a stub, so I'm not adding the multiple issues template to the top in the hope that others will agree with my point of view here. It's a skeleton of an article right now. —Geekdiva (talk) 02:25, 30 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to pull an older intro from an earlier version and add it to the top, and not replace anything, but it will have an intro-like intro and put back some info that was removed. I hope this helps. —Geekdiva (talk) 02:36, 30 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There is a "references removed" edit summary tag! That showed where a good faith edit replaced the intro without a reference. I manually reverted. See below. —Geekdiva (talk) 03:02, 30 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Points to find references for before adding back in

See the section above for details.

Here are the points that https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Deforestation_in_India&oldid=757202660 the good faith editor] wished to include:

1.Ship buliding= the disappearance of oak tree in England in the early 19th century

2.Spread of railways= the expansion of Railways in 1850s created new demand for food to make railway sleepers railway was important for current thread and movement of men and materials was also needed as used to run Railways.

3.Expansion of agriculture= forests are also cut to meet the increasing demand of food crops due to rising population.

4.Plantation= large areas are also clear to make wave of tea, coffee and Rubber plantations which has huge demand in international market

5.According to the colonial government forest was and unproductive and less valuable for the revenue collection so forest were cut to replace it from valuable resource

This is all I can do, so I hope someone can review these points and find references for them. I still think this should be a stub or have hatnote messages, but I've way overdone it so I have got to stop. Thanks! —Geekdiva (talk) 03:02, 30 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Development Ideas

Hi there! I recently reviewed this article and thought it did an excellent job of maintaining a neutral tone. Additionally, I liked the section headers and felt like they provided a great starting template for future development. I'm currently considering developing this page a bit more using the existing information. Specifically, I would like to add more statistics about deforestation, history about this issue, causes and effects of this form of environmental degradation, and initiatives to help solve this problem. I have similar information about my plans on my User Page. Please feel free to check it out and take a look at some of the resources I plan on using. I'm open to any suggestions as well. Let me know what you think about my ideas. Happy editing! Prashanth314 (talk) 07:03, 30 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
