Sanjaya

Was Sanjaya not given 'divine eyesight' well before the battle of kurukshetra as opposed to during it? From my reading of the mahabharata Sanjaya was born with the gift to see things happening at a distance. He did not possess the ability to read other peoples minds.

If its OK ill just delete the sentence about Sanjaya thereby avoiding any dispute (Saurabhb 22:03, 30 December 2005 (UTC))[reply]

Even I remember reading in C. Rajagopalachari's English translation that Sanjaya was born with the gift of "seeing things with the mind's eye". So I guess that its correct to mention that he was born with a gift to see far away things simply by thinking of them...I guess it would be ok to go ahead and change the text to reflect this. In the Mahabharata the nature of Dhritarashta's blindness is very confusing. He was supposedly born blind, but throughout the text he often speaks and acts like someone who sees. I have some text examples for this if you are interested, but I am wondering if anyone else has more knowledge of the Sanskrit that might explain the discrepancies. I wonder if this would be worthwhile to address in this entry. Thanks.02:30, 21 September 2011 (UTC)Istudentstgeorge (talk)
