I do not think this article should be merged with 'Stock'. A DPO is one way to market one's stock - other ways are an IPO or 'secondary' offering. Stock is what is being marketed. This is a specific method to sell stock that is unique enough to warrant its own page. There should be a link from other types of stock, and the page will need to be expanded, but should be kept active.--DeknMike (talk) 02:39, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The inclusion of IPO Village here just seems to be spammy. They don't have any DPOs listed, don't seem to have run any DPOs, only list that some may be coming soon, and some of the basic links on their own site show broken database access. Centerone (talk) 00:39, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It is not clear that direct listings (of the type used by Spotify and Slack) are exactly the same things as DPOs discussed in the rest of the page. Direct listings appear to involve listing on the stock market without raising new capital (as discussed here: 1, 2), whereas DPOs can involve raising capital without any stock market listing (e.g. the Ben & Jerry's example discussed here).

Based on how the terms are used elsewhere, it seems it may be more accurate to say direct listings are a type of DPO, but not all DPOs are direct listings.

I may work on a clarification (or a separate page for direct listings) at some point but I wanted to make sure I'm not missing something, and/or allow a subject-matter expert a chance to review. — stickguy (:^›)— || talk || 14:17, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
