Death?

I'd like to point out that It isn't clear whether Rainie actually dies at the end of Neil Gaiman's story Facade or whether she is simpley transmuted into another element while still retaining her conciousness. I believe she doesn't simpley die because:

a) She doesn't appear in the room with death as a spirit and therefore couldn't have been brought into Death's realm.
b) Death says to the crystalized(liquid?) Rainie "Have fun Rainie. Better luck next time." Which I assume (since reincarnation is not immediatly evident in the Sandman universe) means that Rainie is still alive at least in the technical aspect of the word.

It seems pretty clear I just thought I'd put that out there before making an edit in case I missed something obvious. Feedback please.

Actually, there is at least one explicit example of reincarnation in Sandman: Nada, who chooses to be reincarnated after Dream releases her from Hell. I always interpreted "Facade" as saying that Rainie was allowed to die; if she had merely been transmuted, what would prevent her from changing back to her normal form? Also, if she weren't being allowed to die, I don't think she'd have that joyous expression on her face before she changes. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 14:17, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
