To anybody outside the narrow circle of people who edit this article, referring to "The Slim Shady LP" as Eminem's second album or to "Relapse" as his sixth -- in other words, considering "Infinite" a studio album among his others -- is completely odd and nitpicky. I understand that "Infinite" is a studio album, but it does not belong in any list of "Eminem's studio albums" for a variety of reasons. The best reason is that Eminem's official website does not mention it as such (it does not mention it at all). In my opinion, Eminem's website -- not the editors of Wikipedia -- is the definitive authority on what does and does not belong in a list of Eminem's albums. I propose that a new category for "independent releases" be made for "Infinite" and other releases that qualify (e.g., "The Slim Shady EP") and that we stop playing by our own rules.

This track should also be added to Eminem's number one single list.. if 'My Band' was added as well.. As the song reached No.1 in several countries, visit the 'How Come' page for further info. So the opening should now say Eminem has had 13 No.1 singles...

Aquibmsa is right, we can't use his song lyrics as a source for anything. He's got an artistic license that protects him from slander/libel, we don't. If you are interested in adding biographical content, you might want to see what you can find in his autobiography. Not everything Eminem raps about is truth. As you can probably tell, he's got a twisted sense of humor and he often incorporates things into his music that are just crazy for the sake of humor. According to the official Eminem site, he was born in 1973 (not 1972 as the page currently reads as of Feb 13, 2010). The day and month are correct. His birthplace is Kansas City, Missouri, not St Joseph.

eminem.net is an unofficial fansite, and the biography linked above does not have citations. Further, the section "Biography 2" of that link does state St. Joseph, and 1972. More reputable sources are needed to counter the existing ones. I was just wondering why there isn’t a section with Eminem’s promo tapes and tapes by soul intent with Eminem are not listed. Or make a category and put them in. The slim shady promo tape and Marshal Mather’s promo tape have various unreleased crank calls on them. They all are official and if you are a true Eminem fan u should know. These are The Bassment Files, The Marshall Mather’s LP (Promo), The Slim Shady LP (Promo), Soul Intent (Demo), and Steppin' Onto the Scene EP, and Still in the Bassmint. In the "Number One Singles" area of Discography for Eminem, The link to the Relapse album is using the link to the Recovery Album.

This section has sentence fragments, and "Eminem" doesn't have the 'e' capitalized at one point. Also, it has a redundant link to the RIAA page, and calling his album a "hip hop classic" is an opinion, not a fact.

It should be worded something like this (assuming the facts in it are even true - I don't know if they are or not): "The Eminem Show has been certified diamond by the RIAA, selling over 10 million copies in the US and over 20 million worldwide. Splitting the 6th and 7th albums

I hate to be nit picky but in the name of consistency is it possible to split Relapse and Recovery up? I know Relapse and Relapse 2 were supposed to be released kinda as a co-joined thing but it's gone past that now. Shouldn't one heading be something such as "Relapse & Relapse: Refill" then have a second heading "Recovery"? That way we split the 6th and 7th albums right now it just seems confusing and more of a timeline of the rumors on Recovery then actual facts once everything became more solid. Is it possible to get rid of the speculative stuff and have just a recovery piece? That way once sales and stuff come in it'll be easier. Also i Eminem tweeted that the music video for the the next single "No love" is in the process of being shot and that they got lil wayne's piece done before he went to prison. I don't know if that's entirely relevant to this particular page or more to the recovery one but i figured i'd throw it out there for anyone who wanted to look into it. I'd doing this all myself but i'm very new to wiki and don't really know how to go about fixing the page or have a lot of time to learn. Hope it helps. The article currently has a table of some peaks from some charts for some songs, in the Number-one singles section. This lets us show some of that notability Eminem has, because he's had so many chart-toppers. But I'm wondering: do we need this?

Several things bother me about this table (apart from it not being regularly used in other articles, although I have seen it elsewhere):

1. It is completely and entirely unsourced.
2. It is incomplete, in that it only shows some charts. We use the limit of 10 recommended by MOS:DISCOG, but that leaves several notable charts out of the table, making comparisons or cumulative statements difficult. Are two No. 1's in Italy more interesting than two No. 1's in Sweden? Sweden's just been replaced with Canada; is this a good choice? Why or why not?
3. The notability of Eminem's number of No. 1 or top-ten chartings depends a lot on how it compares to other artists, which isn't shown here. Who else has had seven No. 1's on the New Zealand chart? Who's had more? Is seven in NZ hard to do?
4. It is completely and entirely unsourced.

So: Does this table really improve the article, or is it just another thing we have to keep updating and correcting? The YouTube video opens with what I readily believe is a joke, and the SOHH.com site (which merely regurgitates snippets of other sites, which may or may not be reliable) lists an excerpt where "23 million" is, indeed, used in a sentence (twice) but neither state that Marshall Mather sold 23 million copies worldwide. So it is perfectly acceptable to say that Eminem is a rapper; he raps. However, the music he produces may be "hip hop music" or "rap music". The denotative difference between "rap music" and "hip hop music" is not clear.

I took a closer look at the passage. Much of the content is from a fansite, canibuscentral.com. In fact, a lot of it is copy-pasted which is a no-no. Fansites are generally considered poor references. They should not be relied upon for anything remotely contentious. Eminem has insulted many people and made long-going fueds. Moby was an actual fued that lasted a year, and if you read the links I put, it is a notable fued, or I wouldn't have bothered adding anything. If I thought him poking fun at celebrities constituted as a fued, then I also would have mentioned Kim Kardashian, Jessica Alba, Michael Jackson, John Mayor, and a thousand more. Moby actually took insult to Eminem's mentioning of him in "Without Me". I just used the song as the quickest reference because Wikipedia already has an article on the song. There needs to be some clarity here. Firstly, the punctuation is overly complex. But in-terms of content there is confusion also. Dr. Dre undoubtedly influenced Eminem's music; not his rapping style. They don't rap very similarly at all.

Thanks for the response. There is an important distinction to draw here, which is at the source of the issue with this section. There is a big difference between rapping influences and musical influences. Rapping influence refers to inherited characteristics like cadence, tone, rhyme pattern, even rhyming words. Where musical influence is more about the production work or the relationship between artists. There is no dount that Dr. Dre has been a musical influence of Eminem. But he didn't influence his cadence. If anything, Eminem has influenced Dre's rapping (Eminem writes for Dre). Currently, the section reads "Eminem has named several MCs who influenced his rapping style, in-addition to his mentor, Dr. Dre, who share the same type of music: thick, muscular loops that evoked the terror and paranoia that his music conjured,[135] these influences included..." In order to seperate the two ideas (musical/rapping influence), I would suggest having the list of rappers first, and then a seperate paragraph discussing Dre's influence below. I've heard stories on TV about rpapers such as Royce da 5'9" talking about how they've seen Eminem "sit Dre down in the studio like a student," technically meaning that Eminem mentors Dr. Dre nowadays in the way that Dr. Dre used to mentor Eminem. No matter what, Eminem and Dr. Dre are still friends, and Dr. Dre has served as the ultimate influence for Eminem. In the associated acts part of the infobox, it listed Lil Wayne as an associated act of Eminem. They have done some work together, such as Lil Wayne's song "Drop the World" with Eminem and Eminem's song "No Love" with Lil Wayne, as well as a new leaked song I found called "Inkredible" by Eminem featuring Lil Wayne (not worth mentioning due to the past discussion). Just because of 2 notable songs they were together in, they are not associated completely. That is like saying Eminem is associated acts with Dido or Akon even though only one collaboration was made between that duo. Yes, Slim Shady may be more than a nickname, it is also an alter ego, but I've heard people refer to him as Slim Shady, and his works sometimes refer to him as Slim Shady, in the sense that they are 'one'. That is a metaphor from his creative sense, but he has been refered to as Slim Shady by himself, other rappers, and people I know. This is the kind of thing we don't need to source, it seems like non-Eminem fans even refer to him as Slim Shady. I noticed that on musician articles we technically focus only on the primary genre, such as
