Text and/or other creative content from Fleet Band Activities was copied or moved into Pacific Fleet Band with this edit on February 7, 2020. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists.

Isn't there a policy on plagiarism? This page is comprised of quotations taken verbatim from US government sources. For just one example, tbe sentence

"The mission of Navy Band Northwest is to provide musical support for official Navy functions and Navy Recruiting efforts, and to serve the communities of the Pacific Northwest in a Public Relations capacity"

appears at the website of Commander Navy Northwest Region at [1].

The entire "PACIFIC Fleet Band" section is taken from this...I don't even want to investigate the other stuff.... —Ed 17 for President _{Vote for Ed} 18:23, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The websites are US military websites, and the content appears to be material produced by navy personnel in the course of their duty rather than material taken from elsewhere. As a product of the US federal government, the material would then be in the public domain, and there should be no issue with respect to copyrights. However, there may be issues with

The websites used to generate this article were indeed all generated by members of the respective Navy bands, and all material used here is released for copy and distribution. However, each section should be cited. It is also correct to state that the material is originally authored by people with a vested interest in promoting these organizations publicly, though not commercially.

There is no basis for a copyright claim. Regarding the claim of plagiarism: without citation, this can technically be referred to as plagiarism. However, Wikipedia articles are not written for personal gain of any kind, therefore compilation of released material is not likely a violation of any Wikipedia policy nor was the intent (that I percieve) to commit plagiarism, but to provide information in an easy to access location.

I will make edits to those organizations' sections of this article with which I have personal experience. I am a 12 year career Navy Musician who has served in four of these organizations. I will also add citations to the other sections to bring them in strict compliance with the copy releases.
