The team was clearly representing England, not GB & I

My only concern is that the article fully and clearly explains the true situation, as found in reliable ext refs (per

WP:CITE
). The Football Association explicitly states that that 1912 team was representing "England" (their word, not mine; clearly in contrast to 1908 where the FA explicitly call the team "Great Britain"). The 1908 and 1912 team photographs are also crystal clear: 1908 team: Union Flags, but 1912 team: St George's Cross. The IOC (in retrospect?) allocated the medal to GB & I. We need to make both these facts explicit, but there is no doubt whatsoever that that was an England team. --Mais oui! (talk) 11:20, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The team was an England team, just like how Austria didn't represent Austria-Hungary. Wikipedia has a problem of retrospectively altering names to match current usage, such as Holland being called Netherlands on all old football results despite the name switch being recent. 2A04:4A43:8D9F:F107:CD8:D800:C62E:C1F3 (talk) 12:07, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
