Restoration

The article mentions repairs to the sculpture in 2001 and repairs to the reflecting pool in 2005, and doesn't mention restoration of the sculpture itself in 2005. However, there are pictures showing the sculpture in an unrestored state, labeled as being from August 2004. Might those pictures actually be from before the restoration in 2001? They were uploaded in August 2004, but does any one here know when the pictures were actually taken? If they really were taken in 2004, then why does the sculpture still look to be in such bad shape despite the 2001 restoration?

I can't tell you exactly when the picture - the self-portrait of Lorado Taft, was taken but it would have been before 2001. More like 1995 and maybe even 1985. I can try digging up a more exact date but since tha issue seems to be "pre" or "post" 2001 I can definately confirn PRE. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 15:39, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can you do your best to put dates on the image pages for us.--

Well done!

I want to thank whomever wrote this and/or brought it up to FA status. It's a fantastic article! Kindzmarauli (talk) 14:47, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

criticizing previous restorations

"During the late 1990s and the first few years of the 21st century it underwent repairs that corrected many of the problems caused by these earlier restorations." Is there some rule somewhere that every discussion of a restoration of a building or work of art has to criticize the previous restorations? It seems quite de rigueur. Does the next restoration have to dump on this one? --Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 18:40, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

before after left right top bottom

The two before-after boxes are captioned (left) and (right), but for me the pictures in each pair are one above the other. I don't have an especially small display. jnestorius(talk) 18:48, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The bold "Further reading is currently under "References". Isn't this normally placed in a separate section? -- Otr500 (talk) 06:07, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Archive images reversed

Witness the sculptor's name, is there a good reason why each of the older black and white images is left/right reversed? thanksGeopersona (talk) 18:04, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A year later, nothing has changed; the images are still reversed. Prisoner of Zenda (talk) 23:58, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've uploaded reversed images, but the page doesn't seem to want to show them! Advice, anyone? Prisoner of Zenda (talk) 03:59, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
