First paragraph

The first two sentences do not parse well or at all. There is a "than" but no descriptor (i.e. "more", "less") so it doesn't seem to make sense, but I lack the appropriate legalese to correct it as I don't understand exactly what it's trying to say. Anyone? Hamiltondaniel (talk) 22:20, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Scope

The summary of my edit to the accompanying article ended up reflecting only the problem of a colleague apparently mistaking something like "general article offense" as indicating that "general article" is a term referring to an offense. Researching, after establishing w/in WP that the g.a. is part of the UCMJ, not something it prohibits, i learned (as i suspected) that the concept and perhaps wording within Art. 134 were inherited from British mil law, and unexpectedly found that the precise term "general article" is a generic term also so inherited. I didn't try to add the needed sections on its evolution there, but i did put in a few sentences, and redo my lead sent accordingly.
