They were the antipode of hip at the time, and Real Life having been so aimless and bland probably blinded many reviewers to the qualities of their next album. It's their best and most cohesive '90s album and also (interestingly) no other album in their entire catalogue brings out the Catholic/Christian side of their background and inspiration more clearly than this one: it comes through convincingly and engagingly in many places.
