Foundation Hamish

This is unrelated to the Scots name. It derives from the people calling Trantor Hame for "home". 4.249.3.119 (talk) 19:51, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

Why is this page so prone to vandalism?? Anarchangel23 (talk) 07:35, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It appears to be one of the more common articles of Wikipedia:WikiProject Anthroponymy. ATM it's ranked 227th most popular article in the project, with about 5,500 hits a day (see: Wikipedia:WikiProject Anthroponymy/Popular pages).--Brianann MacAmhlaidh (talk) 09:30, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Recently, I've seen at least four cases of vandalism against this article. May I suggest semi-protecting the title? MammonI.Dumah (talk) 08:56, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Talking of which "Hamish Borthwick" smells like vandalism to me. Paulatthehug (talk) 11:24, 13 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello a question

Is it okay if I add a fictional character into the page? The character is a wolf I think Hamish McDuff or something from wolves of the beyond.

Yours sincerely, me 😉. AnonymousMeh (talk) 21:30, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I meant just Hamish not Hamish McDuff AnonymousMeh (talk) 21:32, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In sorry for being stupid is it possible to put Hamish from wolves of the beyond into animals? AnonymousMeh (talk) 21:34, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Alternate origins?

As I understand it this name also originates in Yiddish, and there is an origin in the Middle East and India, no? Separate threads, as far as I'm aware, but not a uniquely Scottish name?

Or maybe this wiki is focused on the English language sources and it wouldn't be appropriate to mention that?
