I detect a little disagreement over the name following the recent page move and I’m quite unsure what it should be. Perhaps others could chip in? What is the

The correct name is Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge, as this is the name written on original project documents, the City, the architect, engineers, news articles, etc. I reverted it back to the correct naming. I don't know why it was renamed here, but I've found the user renaming it on other wiki-style sites as well. Surfliner (talk) 18:03, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This bridge has NO connection to Harbor Drive. The bridge carries Park Boulevard over the railroad tracks to the Park Blvd Pier/Landing on the South Embarcadero. The bridge is an extension of the Park Blvd (for pedestrians) and cwas constructed within/adjacent the Park Blvd right of way and replaces a segment of Park Blvd removed due to conflict with trains. If you look at the map, there is another isolated segment of Park Blvd south of Harbor Drive that continues south to become Convention Center Way THIS BRIDGE FILLS THE GAP AND RECONNECTS TWO SECTIONS OF PARK BLVD. Names used in original project documents are working names used in early concept and design stages by City staff and rarely become the final. Names are not set in stone, certainly when the do not conform with universsal/common standard 2600:1012:A013:DE89:2D58:48DE:5146:B1F0 (talk) 23:30, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

First, the bridge clearly and obviously has a connection to Harbor Drive. It was built to cross Harbor Drive. Naming bridges after what it spans is extremely common. For example, the Golden Gate Bridge is named after the strait it crosses, not U.S. Highway 101.

Second, no one is disputing that it connects two disconnected road segments. It's very clear why the bridge exists. That does not mean the bridge is named for those roadways. And to be pedantic, the northern segment is not even Park Boulevard. It is now officially called "Trevor Hoffman Way", so even that argument is invalid.

Lastly, names used in project and recent City documents are the best source we have here. The name you keep changing it to on this page does not show up anywhere else. Just because it makes sense to you personally, does not negate the fact that it is fictional. Surfliner (talk) 18:14, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
