Joe vs Booker T

Should we add the stipulaton or wait? --Numyht (talk) 16:43, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What stipulation? Gavyn Sykes (talk) 16:45, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wait till next week when TNA announces that it will take place in Full Metal Mayhem.--WillC 20:47, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm talking about the Impact Spoilers for next week's impact --Numyht (talk) 20:55, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What the crap, I remember yesterday that exact page said Full Metal Mayhem. WrestleView screws up half the time on crap. Wait till next week when it is announced by TNA on Impact.--WillC 21:02, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Quick feedback

  • Lead
    • Spell out 4th (i.e. should be "fourth")
  • Background
    • "During the match, Joe began a staged attack on security, referees, and Booker T. Which caused Sting (Steve Borden), in storyline, to enter the arena and to try and calm Joe down." Change this to "During the match, Joe began a staged attack on security, referees, and Booker T, which caused Sting (Steve Borden), as part of the storyline, to enter the arena and to try and calm Joe down."
    • Change "Followed by Sting hitting Joe in the back and the gut with a baseball bat. He then allowed Booker T to cover Joe and let Booker T's wife (Sharmell [Sharmell Sullivan]) count the pinfall, because referee Rudy Charles (Daniel Engler) had earlier in the match began a scripted unconscious role" to "This was followed by Sting hitting Joe in the back and the gut with a baseball bat, and then allowing Booker T to cover Joe. Booker T's wife Sharmell (Sharmell Sullivan) counted the pinfall, because referee Rudy Charles (Daniel Engler) had earlier in the match began a scripted unconscious role."
    • Change "that is a portrayed match maker" to "that is portrayed as a match maker".
    • Change "rightful champion: Joe" to "rightful champion, Joe"
    • What does "entering the Impact! Zone" mean? Is that like the arena? Might want to explain that out.
      • It is the arena that TNA tapes Impact! in since they don't get to travel much. Like Raw was in the early days.--WillC 08:30, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Change "Explained by Booker T, he offered to add weapons to the match, such as tables, ladders, and chairs were a few named" to For storyline purposes, Booker T wanted to add weapons to the match, like ladders, chairs and tables"
    • "scripted physically attack" should be "scripted physical attack".
      • My mistake, I didn't read that feud too well.
    • Change "The reason behind the attack was later revealed to be motivated by Angle believing that Styles and his wife, Karen Angle, were romantically involved, in storyline." to "The attack was later revealed to have been motivated by Angle believing that Styles and his wife, Karen Angle, were romantically involved, in storyline."
    • "Team 3D (Brother Ray [Mark LoMonaco] and Brother Devon [Devon Hughes]), and Christian Cage (Jason Reso) and Rhino (Terry Gerin)" should be "Team 3D (Brother Ray [Mark LoMonaco] and Brother Devon [Devon Hughes]), Christian Cage (Jason Reso) and Rhino (Terry Gerin)"
    • "of Impact!, While" - while should not be capitalised.
      • My mistake.--WillC 08:30, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • "performed three Olympic Slams in concession."
      • --WillC 08:30, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Wikilink Olympic Slam[reply]
      • What does "in concession" mean? Are you sure that's the right word?
        • As far as I know it means, one right after the other.--WillC 08:30, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
          • The word you're looking for is "succession". "Concession" is where you go when Cena is in the ring. 76.181.232.187 (talk) 01:58, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Change "Later Styles issued a challenge for Hard Justice between Angle and him. It was announced following the challenge that they would have a encounter at Hard Justice in a Last Man Standing match." to "Later Styles issued a challenge to Angle for Hard Justice, and it was later announed that the match would be a Last Man Standing match"
    • "long going" should be "long ongoing"
    • "Their feud continued with Cage and Rhino help protecting The Latin American X-Change's (Homicide [Nelson Erazo] and Hernandez [Shawn Hernandez]), who Team 3D were feuding with at the time, manager, Hector Guerrero (Hector Manuel Guerrero Llanes), from attacks by Team 3D." Huh? I read that three times, and I still barely understand. Ok, I think what you want to say is "Their feud continued with Cage and Rhino helping to protect The Latin American X-Change (LAX) (Homicide [Nelson Erazo] and Hernandez [Shawn Hernandez]), and their manager, Hector Guerrero (Hector Manuel Guerrero Llanes), from attacks by Team 3D. Team 3D were feuding with LAX at the time over the TNA Tag Team Championship."
      • Something like that, though they only attacked Hector. But it will work, I can't remeber back that far on Impact since everyweek Team 3D attacks someone.
    • "Team 3D placed Cage" sounds a little gentle. Try rewording the "gentle" part (It's too early in the morning over here for me to come up with something.)
    • You use "Beer Money, inc" in the background and "Beer Money Inc." - consistency is key.
    • "to a match at Hard Justice to take place in a New Jersey Street Fight." - the match won't take place in a New Jersey Street Fight. ;) You'll have to reword that.
    • "later a match" should be "later the match".
  • Matches
    • After the event is over, don't forget to change the heading to "Results" and convert to the table format. ;)
      • Yeah, I decided to wait, it is easier to write like it is now and I won't have to deal with IPs. So the day after the event I'm going to change it to a table. If I do it while the event is going on then someone is going to keep reverting it back to the old way. Thanks for all the help.--WillC 08:30, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • weird
    • I'm just wondering why this article is written the way it is instead of the way that professional wrestling events are usually written about here on wikipedia? Stupid5pin (talk) 18:31, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Because it is new consensus at
WP:PW. In order to have articles become GA and FA they must not have jargon in them. To a non wrestling fan, the old way seemed confusing to them.--WillC 18:33, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply
]
The article, in my opinion, looks a mess due to the sheer amount of references to the event being a staged series of fights rather than legitimate contests. A disclaimer at the beginning of the article would suffice rather than every action or event from the show being preceeded or followed by a term to indicate it wasn't "real". This is new consensus at
FAs.--WillC 15:39, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply

As much as I refuse to get a wiki account, I gotta give my heads up. Look at the horrible mess this article is. Yes, to become FA, you gotta use less jargon or whatever. But this article goes too far. What's next, explaining that television is a box of images or whatever? Read, for example, the 2008 summerslam article, or even the featured article, December to Dismember 2005. Compare them to this abomination. I'm sorry, but no one is getting a barnstar or adminship or whatever that way. 200.207.145.61 (talk) 09:46, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You seem to have not payed close attention to the two you just mentioned. SummerSlam was like this but ips, like yourself, (not you but users that don't have a account and just use their ip address) remove the out of universe from it. December to Dismember is just like this article if you read it.--WillC 19:27, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I did pay attention to them. I have absolutely no issue to making articles accessible to pretty much everyone; that should be wikipedia's goal. December to Dismember, while a bit cheesy, hits the spot perfectly in regards of accessibility of content. It describes and explains the mechanics of the event in a self-contained article. But this article is overdoing it. 189.19.170.20 (talk) 04:58, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This article isn't finished. TNA stuff doesn't have alot of demand since not many work on them on here but me. Hell I created this plus every ppv this year since Victory Road. Also Destination X and Sacrifice. So the reason it may seem over done is because I haven't had the chance to finish it in my sandbox. After I'm finished it will sound very different.--WillC 05:12, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
