Ah!

A slightly edited version was released on a single, in which the drum machine intro is cut off. The same version erroneously appeared on the 1991 cassette and CD reissue of 'The Beach Boys Love You' on the Caribou label.

Glad to see an explanation for why I liked this song so much better when I had the cassette! Not only is the drum intro cut out, but it's a different mix. The lead vocals are slightly lower in the mix, creating a more even sound, like a regular rock 'n' roll record instead of a home demo, which is what the album version (as heard on the Capitol two-fer with 15 Big Ones) sounds like. Mixing a lead vocal too loud is such an amateurish and tragic mistake; it really eats up the "head room" and shrinks the music! But I guess this would be Original Research if I added it to the article, so I'm mentioning it here. --63.25.9.144 (talk) 22:29, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Single Mix

@ILIL Hi, the US/Canada single mix (RPS 1389) also runs 2:31 with the same cut as the German single, I'm quite new to Wikipedia editing and wasn't sure how to clarify the extent of the single edit. I used the German single over others for no particular reason. As far as I can tell, the US, Canadian, German singles run at 2:31 and have the same instrumental bridge cut. I would be able to cite the US single but am unsure if it should be appended to the existing citation, or replace it completely.
Just as clarification, I am not indirectly citing Discogs with this, that former edit was a mistake on my part as I'm still trying to figure out citing poorly recorded information.
Though I assume not valid for citation, there exists also a vinyl rip of the single mix on YouTube. FutureFlowsLoveYou (talk) 13:26, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
