This article was the subject of an educational assignment in Spring 2014. Further details were available on the "Education Program:University of Utah/Gender and Economic Development in the Third World (Spring 2014)" page, which is now unavailable on the wiki.

Links need to be added as I am sure you are aware of. More depth is needed under especially source countries since we are talking about Southeast Asia specifically. The general definition of Human trafficking is there but what other countries than Thailand and examples of how people are captured or tricked could be useful. Under the section prevention policies it would be interesting to read about different approaches between countries. Also, how effective are the different policy approaches and what has been proven successful? It is interesting to compare laws in for example sex trafficking, some countries outlaw the seller while others outlaw the buyer, or both or none could be outlawed in other countries. Under traffickers updated data could be added if it is available. Under destination countries; is the western world a common destination or is most trafficking regional? Also comment on how destination countries work against human trafficking, or the lack of work against it. Under victims; change "This also can create blurred lines when it comes to estimating the number of trafficked persons because officials cannot determine the difference between a smuggled person and a trafficked one ". This section and especially the end needs to be clarified, it took me a little while to understand so expand and explain. Nice work overall!

You have great feedback from lsmcqueen and yogibjorn. I agree with their suggestions. There are so many possibilities to link the article to other Wikipedia articles, you should quickly do so! In addition, I would change the first section to focus on SEAsia. This region (as source and destination) is the focus of the article. Drop the "Human trafficking in general" title; change it to something like the "Nature of the problem" and indicate that trafficking in SEA entails both forced labor for industry and agriculture and for sex work. The lead paragraph should motivate the reader to continue reading, hence include 2-3 compound sentences on why this topic is important (essentially a summary of your article). Also, you do not cite scholarly articles specifically focused on SE Asia. Try to locate and integrate a few key journal articles. Also US State Department has annual reports and stats on human trafficking. Check out the 2013 Human trafficking report at http://www.state.gov/j/tip/rls/tiprpt/2013/ There are country narratives alphabetically arranged (read the ones on SEAsian countries, at least 3-4 countries, and incorporate the main points). I checked out Thailand and Timor-Leste and they are pretty informative. Speaking of SEA: you should identify the countries in question at the outset.BerikG (talk) 04:53, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is all very constructive feedback and I will look into making adjustments and changes to the article accordingly. I agree with many of you that the article needs to have links and I will add those. When it comes to the prevention policies I will be adding additional information. Hi all,

As part of a class assignment at my university, I am interested in possibly making revisions and expansions to this article. Revisions and additions I have in mind so far are improving the organization of the "destination countries" and "source countries" section to breakdown into subsections of individual countries, as well as add additional countries to the article as well (such as Thailand, which I notice does not have an official section like the others). I also think a helpful section to add is perhaps one detailing Methods of Subjugation. The title is tentative, but it could detail the various tactics perpetrators use throughout Southeast Asia to lure victims and keep them captive. I also believe the addition of statistics to this article would be beneficial as well, noting on the article that they are estimates as data on human trafficking can never be fully accurate.
