No hockey countries

At the AFD people pointed out how useless it is to have countries with no hockey on a list of ice hockey countries. Also other wikis are not real sources anyways. 64.4.93.100 (talk) 20:07, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I tend to agree. If this is a List of Ice Hockey Countries, then only countries with some involvement thereunto should be included. For precedent's sake, are there any other lists here of "List of X Countries" that include every country, with essentially a yes/no listing? I do agree that the references should not be removed from the hockey=yes countries though. The =no countries have no place here, imho.

Comment just to be clear, since the template and nomination state opposite things, and there was a move in the middle of this. This article started out as "List of ice hockey countries" and AaronWikia (talk · contribs) moved it to "List of countries with ice rinks and ice hockey" while the move discussion was still open -- 70.51.203.69 (talk) 06:24, 24 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Comment the formulation of the title "List of countries with ice rinks and ice hockey" is very odd. If the country has ice hockey they'd have to have ice rinks. But if they have ice rinks they don't necessarily have ice hockey. If you wanted a list of ice hockey rinks, then that's how it should be formulated List of countries with ice hockey rinks which should be separate from List of countries that play ice hockey (so that places that play hockey may not have hockey in the country, as expats may play in foreign rinks) -- 70.51.203.69 (talk) 06:27, 24 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

And looking through your history it seems you have had quite the bee in your bonnet about this page. I think you need to move on. It is also a little disturbing that you completely altered the content of the page away from its stated purpose and then tried to request a move to match your new content. Oppose. The proposed title is redundant and pointless. If ice hockey is played in a country, then by necessity, it has facilities to support an ice rink. The scope remains as vague as ever though, so it might make more sense to rename and repurpose this into a list of nations with an ice hockey federation, with a list of any leagues that exist with that nation. List of ice hockey countries → Ice hockey by country – I believe this would be a clearer and more accurate title. For example, the article discusses Namibia's lack of ice hockey activities, so they wouldn't be an "ice hockey country" by any definition of the term. This would also match its complementary category Category:Ice hockey by country and most other articles that list foo in countries worldwide. -- Tavix ^(talk) 20:30, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply
