The International Amphitheatre was home to Professional Wrestling. The all time greats such as Dick "The Bruiser", "The Crusher", "The Blackjacks" and "Pretty Boy" Bobby Heenan. The American Wrestling Association was the State of Illinois sanctioned promotion. The television promoter was a classic in Bob Luce. AWA Champion Verne Gagne and Dick "The Bruiser", along with Scientific Wrestler Wilbur Snyder were the behind the scenes promoters. On the night of the matches, fans would pack the seats to watch their favorites, and chant "We want blood!) Prior to the evenings card, fans would go to the Hall of Fame to watch classic wrestling videos and an array of wrestling photos. It was located in the NW corner of the building. Fans could also enjoy a steak dinner with Bob Luce and meet "Yukon Moose" Cholak, or Golden Boy Paul Christy in the Stockyard Inn.

I'm planning a new article under the above title, incorporating more information & merging in the information from this article. Any thoughts? Ssbohio 03:26, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure that the 1968 Democratic National Convention would have been held at McCormick Place had not that venue been badly damaged by a 1967 fire. The Amphitheater was s poor second choice. Who knows how history might have been changed with regard to the riot and police action that resulted? WHPratt (talk) 19:18, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Notable conventions"

This section notes that the 1968 Democratic convention was "tumultuous" and noted anti-Vietnam War demonstrations. The article should also mention that the police rioted in response to the demonstrations, and this is confirmed by numerous subsequent investigations.Maccb (talk) 01:09, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
