We need a more exact page number

User:JohnThorne, in a recent edit, you introduced some bits that quote Hicks. We're going to need the exact page numbers those quotes appear on. Just quoting the entire article is not precise enough. Alephb (talk) 01:10, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Corrected. Each citation is now with a distinct page number. JohnThorne (talk) 01:37, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Alephb (talk) 01:39, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, User:JohnThorne. The citation to "Ryle 2009", which you added, will also need a page number. Alephb (talk) 23:59, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, User:JohnThorne. The citation to Wurthwein, which you added recently, will also need a page number. Alephb (talk) 01:15, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Page numbers added. Thanks. JohnThorne (talk) 02:05, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
How about for Ryle? Alephb (talk) 02:15, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As it was added a few years back, I will have to check the source again. For now, it needs to be removed. JohnThorne (talk) 03:55, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There were a number of problems left, even after you added page numbers to the Wurthwein citation. For example, there was no mention of the Codex Cairensis on the pages you added, so you should not have added material about the Codex Cairensis to the article. The Septuagint is not mentioned on the pages you cited, so you should not have added information about the Septuagint. The Leningrad Codex is simply given a date of "1008" in the cited source, not "1008-1009", so the information you added should have matched the source cited. The Aleppo Codex's date is supported on page 36, and the Leningrad Codex on pages 36-37, but you cited the entire page range 36-43, so when I was checking up I had to read an extra five pages of material before I could see that you were once again misusing sources.
Thank you for helping to check the edits. I agree with the edit you made to solve the issue. Much appreciated. JohnThorne (talk) 03:55, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In view of the large number of sourcing errors you make, please try to limit the number of page numbers you cite, so that it is easier for the other editors when they clean up your citations. Alephb (talk) 02:58, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Noted. I will concentrate to improve the Bible-related articles only this article and a few others, until the quality of the articles is up to the standard. JohnThorne (talk) 03:55, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
