Misconception?

Can we cite where the misconception of the true authorship of the song comes from? As a Nirvana fan, I listened to this song on the Unplugged Album where Cobain explicitly says that the song is written by the Vaselines and further that: "it's a rendition of an old Christian song, I think, but we do it the Vaselines' way." Who would think this was a Nirvana song? Rafajs77 (talk) 02:29, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I'm glad someone else cited that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.51.129.37 (talk) 21:18, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think the authorship of the song was ever in question, the Nirvana album has several covers on it and like you said Cobain prefaces the song by saying it's a cover. Same goes for the Leadbelly joint, the three Meat Puppets songs and The Man Who Sold The World. Let'sGoO's (talk) 16:29, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I looked up the person who wrote this claim of a popular misconception, their only other contributions are to deface some article about a Japanese cartoon. So I took it out.Let'sGoO's (talk) 16:52, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is a very old Christian children's song. I do not know where it came from, but I sang it as a special music solo in Clarke's Methodist Church, Beavercreek, Oregon in 1947, when I was three years old. My mother taught me, and accompanied me.
