KGO ownership

KGO is not owned by Clear Channel, it is owned by ABC/Disney— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.79.61.6 (talkcontribs) 04:10, 19 June 2005‎ (UTC)[reply]

Inadvertent deletion

Regarding the clear channel edit, please forgive me for deleting it. I didn't bother to follow through to the link. Thank you for restoring it.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.219.226.24 (talkcontribs) 04:15, 23 June 2005‎ (UTC)[reply]

KGO

Thanks for this nice history of KGO. I began listening to KGO in 1999, three years after moving to San Francisco from Dallas TX. Of all the AM talk radio I listened to (and I listen to talk AM radio a lot), KGO is the best. I like the diversity of its program hosts, from liberal to conservative. I also like the local host concept which is very different from most talk radio in this country when 90% of the hosts are syndicated and have no local affiliation. KGO is different, it's hosts are 90% local, live and work in the Bay area. Last but not the least, the guests appearing on its programs is also not available in other talk AM channels. You have international/national figures as well as local personalities. So, five years after I left San Francisco and moved to Portland OR, I still listen to KGO regularly, sometimes at night on the AM dial, most times from the internet.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.134.136.2 (talkcontribs) 04:21, 14 October 2005‎ (UTC)[reply]

Why at KGO (AM) instead of KGO-AM?

KGO-AM seems to be the station's own designation for itself, so why isn't it under that name? Most of the links that aren't from the template seem to go there. Night Gyr 05:38, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The article is filed under the
prosigns or informal names, like 'The Bear' or 'The Eagle' or 'The Arrow' or 'The Bone'. Jack FM is an exception, but that article is about a radio format with that name.) hadley 06:01, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply

Former regular and guest hosts

Karen Kraft?
Christine Craft, yes ... info at this link:
http://www.museum.tv/archives/etv/C/htmlC/craftchrist/craftchrist.htm
Michael Savage?
I do not ever remember hearing Michael Savage on KGO or of him being on KGO.
Is there any check on this or facts to back-up these assertions? — 69.111.133.140 07:23, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, he was on KGO a few years ago. Before he became so well known as he is now. —Steve Dufour 16:06, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Missing personalities

I'm not comfortable editing the article itself, but for the sake of comprehensiveness, Stan Burford, Leo Ciolino, and Lynn Jimenez seem to be missing from the list of newscasters/reporters. Someone want to fix that? ~ Helen Redi-whip —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.146.14.186 (talk) 19:13, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Liberal vs. conservative

I have been listening to KGO for the past 12 years, almost every day. I think the article makes too much of the station's "liberalism". Yes, it is liberal compared to conservative talk radio. However, compared to the "main-stream media" it is fairly conservative. In terms of the range of views of people across the USA it seems to be pretty much middle of the road. Compared to politics in the Bay Area it is more conservative. These are only my subjective opinions of course. Steve Dufour 22:28, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ronn Owens

I could venture a guess, but I'd rather hear the real reason: why isn't Ronn Owens mentioned on the KGO page? BayRadioDJ (talk) 00:38, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Former hosts

There is no point in mentioning former hosts. After KGO cleaned house, it is certainly undue weight. Also, there was a Giant party when Rosie retired. If you are such a fan how could you have missed that, or the fact she has not broadcast in months? Please cease and desist, you have already given yourself away.DocOfSoc (talk) 07:54, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh contraire. When a notable figure in the industry gets their start or has a meaningful stint at the station in question, it is generally mentioned. i.e. Bernie Ward / George Weber / Mal Sharpe etc. - 9/2010 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.36.208.160 (talk) 21:57, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Personalities (Hosts) and Wikipedia-notable

Trimmed up the excessive personalities list to meet with Wiki's notability requirements. It is worth retaining due to the historical significance of many prior hosts, but should not become a clearing house of anyone who ever sat behind a KGO microphone.70.36.212.48 (talk) 20:03, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
