Behavioral modernity : I reading the website quoted several times in article to find "evidence in these earliest levels of the earliest of ritual behavior--cannibalism". I used 'no kill' mousetrap, and putted the catch in big vial only to find out one missing. Do the rodent exhibit behavioral modernity? Two grazed the one. Also the gathering food - is it evidence for modernity? To gather plants in bushes and fishes on beaches? I understand the flowers, flowers may be OK.

Also the '20 km away'. What is the problem for any animals (humans to) excluding perhaps snails to range 20 km? Chimps are known to use wooden tools to grab wild bee honey. Stone tools are in use 2 Mya is it something special that they walked for 5 hours at 70 kya?

Hi all. I will be editing this page as part of an African prehistory class that I am enrolled in. I plan on editing this article for clarity through a structural overhaul as well as copyediting. I'll be including a few more recent sources, and balancing the sections to include more perspectives on the significance of the site (outside of cannibalism). I just revamped the page with new sections that will take readers through the site in a more logical manner from site exposition to findings and interpretations. I will be adding more details on the implications of modernity at the site as well as elaborating more on food sources and human behaviors in the coming weeks.
