Avarekayi = Hyacinth Bean? Major error in the article?
I wanted to highlight a possible error in this article. The article on Hyacinth bean talks sometimes of a "Dry seeds are poisonous due to high concentrations of cyanogenic glucosides, and can only be eaten after prolonged boiling". It also says that Hyacinth bean is the same as "avarekayi" or "vaal" eaten in South India. But then the latter is widely consumed and is not poisonous. Another contradiction is it says "producing purple flowers and striking electric-purple coloured seed pods", but avarekayi seeds are not electric purple !
My suspicion is - are they talking about two different beans and included in the same article by mistake?
